Why I love my work #74589

CO-WORKER: Hey, you're eyes are so red. Is it because you're tired?

ME: No, I'm not tired. I have chronic dry eyes and my optometrist said that I don't fully close my eyes when I blink, so they get irritated easily.

CO-WORKER: You don't fully close your eyes? Must be because your eyes are big.

Nice, huh?

Anyway, just saying hello to my peeps. I know, it's been almost a year! Been really busy and lazy :D But I'm sure you are dying to know, Brent and I are still married. Hopefuly, we'll still be together on our 1 year anniversary. Keep your fingers crossed!

Bridal Shower #3

So my mom's friends threw me a bridal shower last Saturday.

Myself, Janet, Irene and Lorie were probably the younger ones there. But we still had a lot of fun! Great food, great friends and great presents always make a great party :D

The theme of the shower was "kitchen" so I got a lot of great stuff! We can't wait to use them after the wedding! And I think Brent and I have enough towels to last until our 25th Anniversary. Oh how I love new and fluffy towels!

We played a few cute games:

1. Guess what objects are on the table. There were about 20 things on the table and we had about 30 seconds to look at all of them before they were covered up by a sheet. Once covered, we had to go back to our seats and write down as many objects as we can. The one who gets the most 'correct' anwers gets a prize.

2. Guess how many candies are in the jar. Simple yet only one winner!

3. Guess what is in Bless' purse. Unfortunately, I wasn't allowed to play.

4. This section is censored. The last present I opened was two boiled eggs and a banana. One of the ladies gave me a box of condoms and wanted to see how well I could put the condom on the banana. I was thinking of doing everything with my mouth but then I thought my parents wouldn't think it was ladylike. (My mom was right in front of me and my dad in the other room).

I'm still traumatized...

And I think this makes a great end for this post.

Bridal Shower #2

My bridesmaids hosted a bridal shower for me on Saturday.

It was a 'fairytale' inspired shower, which was just awesome. We had it at my maid of honour's parents' backyard - they decorated the place with blue and everything to do with fairytale:

Rice Krispies "magic wands"

"Princess and the Pea" assorted sandwiches

"Bless and the Beanstalk" salad

....just to name a few details. It was a delicious sight.

We played a couple of games like "What Princess Are You?". Everyone wore a tiara with a name of a Princess or leading Disney female character. We had to go around and ask yes/no questions for clues. Of course, everyone just sat at their chairs and yelled across the table but it was just as fun.

The second game we played was "Guess How Old The Bride Is". There was a poster with 10 photos of me growing up and everyone had to guess what age I was in each picture. My mom got 2 out of 10.

The third group game we played was a "Wedding Trivia". Do you know that "bride" in old english means "cook"? Good luck Brent!

The last game we played was really just for me. It was "How Well Does Bless Know Brent"? While sitting on my throne, with my super princess hat and wand, I had to answer a list of trivial questions about Brent. Each question I get wrong, I had to chew a hubba bubba bubble gum (<-- massive gums!). Well, I have to say that I did great! I only had to chew 4 bubble gums. Mostly because I'm so sure that Brent made them up on the spot. Like favourite animal is a hawk? What's up with that?

After the games, I opened my presents which by the way were awesome! I thought I'd be getting a plethora of lingerie but the only one I got was from my mom... eek. Sorry mom, not having any babies anytime soon!

We had cake afterwards, Jenn made a princess cake which was absolutely delicious! It was the perfect way to end such a beautiful shower.

Me and Jenn

I'll post more pics as soon as I get them from my bridemaids.

Thanks to everyone who were able to attend the shower - it was really nice to see you there and to share this special time with me. And many thanks to Janet, Kim, Jenn, Courtnay and Jagreet for a fabulous shower!

Bridal Shower #1

I know you guys are dying to find out how my dress fitting went last night, so allow me to fill you in.

Well, I’m happy to report that there’s no damage to my skin. It took a few seconds to get the zipper going but then it was a piece of cake ...mmmmmm...cake...mmmm... Okay Brent, after the wedding, I’m letting myself go...

End scene.

Okay so the last part was a bit dramatic. I haven’t been on any serious wedding diet yet. But with the wedding coming up in five weeks (oh dear), I need to start transforming my thoughts into action. So it’s official, on Sunday July 8th,I will start eating healthy. No more ice teas and burgers. Only ice and lettuce.

Moving along...

Guess what!? I had a lovely surprise today! My mom and work friends threw a surprise bridal shower for me! Lots of presents and food and laughs, I had sooo much fun! I can’t wait to show Brent my presents! He’ll be so jealous! Especially with the black thong I got. I just hope he doesn’t try it on because FOR THE LAST TIME, I wear women’s underwear, they’re not unisex!

Anyway, back to the work bridal shower, I had such a wonderful time! I was really surprised, honestly!!! I’m actually quite frightened to see the picture they took of me when I walked in. I probably had one of those ginger beef eyes.

On Holidays...?

Yes well Bless is correct that the wedding is still on and things are going well in preparation.

As for me well, I think I am putting in more work now that I'm on holiday than when I had work to go to!!! Bless and I have some "special" treats to get ready for the wedding that I think everyone will enjoy... if not then I've wasted a good chunk of my life...

Anyway, I can't let you know what the surprise is, but I think the result will really blow everyone away.

As for Bless and prunes... well maybe don't wash them down with a rocky road milk shake or then eat three fudge brownies to "get the prune taste out of my mouth." Just an idea.

As for me, well I've been talking and thinking about working out a lot but as of yet have only worked out once this week. Oh well, as I said I've been busy

Well, I'm sure I'll get into trouble for that brownie comment, so I'm going to go find a good hiding spot!

Gasp.

Well good news people, we’re still engaged!

Life has been more crazy than usual – lots of wedding preparations and more wedding preparations.

Next week, I will be going in for my dress fitting. Dear goodness, I sure hope it fits! Last time I tried it on, two people had to shove me in and I'm sure that's where the skid marks came from. Today I’ve started my prune diet. And I think it will end today.

Other exciting news, Brent and I have booked our honeymoon! We are going to Italy! I am super excited! Hence the exclamations!!! Yea !!! !!!!!!

Italy is one of the places I want to visit before I turn into a prune and I’m so happy that I get to share it with my nearly prune fiancé. Just kidding sweet pea, being 6 years older isn’t that bad.

Enough of prunes, I had 10 today and I don’t want anymore. They’re good after one.

Okay bye.

Oh, my first wedding shower is next weekend! I’m so excited. I hope I don’t get wet.

The Meeting

Last week, Brent's dad came down from Quesnel for some heart tests (by the way, results came out great). While he was here, we thought it would be a good opportunity for my parents to meet his dad. So last night, Brent treated my parents and his family (dad, sister and uncle) to a casual dinner at Sammy J’s.

I have to say, I was quite nervous for this occasion! Brent and I can barely manage being together... what would happen if his family didn't get along with mine!? Let's say YIKES! and triple orders of Kit Kat Blizzards which by the way I am so annoyed to find out that they have been discontinued!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway...

I really wasn’t sure what to expect. I was just hoping that we could go through dinner without any awkward silences. I even prayed for crickets.

To make a not so long story short, it went extremely well! Dinner lasted over two hours! Everyone was talking, laughing, it was really great!

My parents really likes Brent's dad and uncle - but you know, I sensed a little bit of competition last night:

"I take 3 pills in the morning."
"Oh really, I take 3 pills in the morning and 3 in the evening."
"You know, my blood pressure is really up."
"My doctor says that my blood pressure and sugar level is really high."
"Oh yea, I can't hear from my left ear."
"That's nothing, I feel a popping sound in my chest!"
"I have a heart chart."
"I can draw a heart chart on AutoCad."
"I can build one out of cedar."

B = Busy

Hey now, sorry for the large gap between posts!

To all those enquiring minds, Brent’s reward was a Nintendo DS Lite! The only reason why I got him one was because I got myself one too and you know, I don’t like to share.

Brent and I have been busy designing/preparing our wedding invitations and favours. It could have been done sooner but we're all about details! My bridesmaids came over on Friday night and helped with putting them together. Janet, Kim, Jenn, Courtnay and Jagreet – thank you so much for all of your help! I appreciate it a lot, even though a couple of you argued about the bows with me and said I have OCD.....

But back to the DS Lite – I love it! I’m so addicted to it. And it definitely helps the relationship. Brent and I haven’t argued about what shows to watch in a while – instead of poking him while he’s watching Xena-type shows, I’m playing my DS and winning coins! But when Brent and I challenge each other, that’s a different thing. He still hasn’t grasped the concept “Bless winning equals happy Bless”. Why does he always want to be better than me?

Hmm, what else to write about. Seems like I’m all over the place! Oh right, the ‘reveal’ is coming up soon. We’ve invited our friends over to our place on May 26th for a Housewarming/Engagement party! How exciting is that!? Do you know that last year, on May 26th, Brent proposed to me… and hey it will be our blog’s 1st Anniversary! I can’t believe it has already been a year! And I can’t believe that the wedding is in 3 months!!! Okay, I’m starting to freak out… where’s my DS…
