We have a home!!!

Well as you might have noticed, its been a while since I've posted. Well here's why. Bless and I have been house hunting and guess what?

We found a place!!!

We'd been looking for a only about a month when we found it so all this has happened pretty quickly, but when we saw the place we just couldn't say no. And so, the last week has been crazy busy with getting all the subjects removed, the banks stuff squared away, and everything else that goes along with buying a first home. And let me tell you, its been pretty stressful. Bless will back me up on that.

So much to learn, and read through. Not that reading itself is difficult, but you're so worried about missing something and since you don't really know what you're looking for to begin with, it can be frustrating. Oh well. Its done now and we just need to go in on Friday to sign the papers and the deal is done.

We take posession on March 29th!!!

It needs a bit of work so get ready to give us a hand!

Bruises no more

Tonight I’m going to Boot Camp for the third night. I am still sore from Tuesday, but you know how the saying goes: 'No pain, no gain.'

I want to become big and muscley so when Brent goes for my arm again, he’ll bounce right off.

"Shoo fly, don't bother me."

The Real story of what happened at the wedding...

Hello all,

Well as you know, we went to our friends wedding this last weekend and while Bless did get some of the details right she left out one major part. Yes she looked incredible, yes she was almost late cause she got lost in the mall, yes everyone had a great time, and yes we danced.

And that is what I have to comment on, for you see, we have been to 5 weddings this year and at each one of them I ask Bless to dance, and at each one of them she says no, her shoes hurt, or shes tired, or whatever... then she goes and dances with her friends and I sit in the corner.

So what was different this time? Well I was forced to dance because I was the best man and I had to do the mandatory dance with the maid of honor. And I think this is what did it. Bless saw me on the dance floor and suddenly she wanted to dance with me. Why? Well I believe the answer is two fold. Firstly, the obvious, she saw me dancing with another woman... a very married, and very pregnant woman, but still her jealous beast roared and she had no choice but to hold on as it charged in. Secondly, she saw me dance. Now for those of you who don't know, I can dance. You see, I've told her that I like to dance and that I can, but she always laughs and thinks I'm just being silly. And then she doesn't dance with me cause she thinks I'll embarass her. Well that all changed on Saturday. She saw me dance and got up there on the dance floor with me and we danced the night away. It was great.

Now of course I can only hope that she'll dance with me again at some point in the future, for while I know she'll remember how much fun we had, I also know that she over thinks things too often and if the idea gets in her head that I'm a better dancer than her, then I may never get to wisk her around the dance floor again!

Oh well, I guess I'll just go back to the corner and practice my moves... dance moves that is. ;)

Congratulations

To our friends, Mike and Waleah!

They got married on Saturday, January 13th at the Firefighter Banquet Hall. Luckily, there was no fire.

Waleah looked amazing in her dress and Mike looked stunning in his suit. And they did an awesome job in planning out their wedding because the afternoon/night was just incredible. I had so much fun!

Their wedding reminded me of how much I need Brent in my life. As he was the best man of the groom, he had to leave early in the morning to meet with the wedding party. I was going to meet him at the ceremony/reception.

Driving there was fine. But when I was close to the place, I panicked a little because it didn’t look like I was going to make it on time. Stupid traffic. I finally got there and just when I thought I was going to make it, there was no parking. Stupid parking.

I ended up parking at the top level of the Metrotown Parkade. I was wearing a dress and heels and was freezing cold! I’ll skip some boring details and simply say that I got lost. I couldn’t find my way out! I ended up in the mall and didn’t know which way to go. I finally found my way to the hall and at that point I had given up. I knew I was late for the ceremony for sure but when I saw Waleah, I still had a chance. I tried to walk up the steps as fast as I could but my toes were frozen so I was probably going normal speed. Then I saw Brent and everything was better. To sum up this little story, I need Brent to drive me to places on time. Without him, I’m a mess.

House #1

So Brent and I went to look at a place last night. To our dismay, it wasn’t what we were looking for. The only nice thing about the place was the large living room space and the hardwood floors. Everything else, we didn’t really like. Everything just looked unfinished. We would have to do a lot of renovating once we move in and as you all know, Brent and I are not hardworking people.

We were both excited to find out that the place had a recreation room. We thought, what a great space for Brent's jungle gym! Unfortunately, the ‘rec’ room did not meet our expectations at all! It wasn't even a room. It was a foyer where the owners put their junk in! And right next to the entrance door! The realtor tried to remain positive but you can tell he was thinking the same thing we were.

Realtor: Look, there's a closet where you can put your clothes in.
Owner: No, that's where the boiler is.

What the????? Boy, was I ever steamed!!

Anyway, we are not discouraged.
Rome wasn’t built in one day. More like in several years.

The house hunt continues.

The great house hunt begins

Well I finally talked Bless into actually going out and looking for a place to live... for when we're married. We've decided to look for a town house because the idea of being stuffed into only 2 bedrooms with each other was more than either of us was prepared for (I'll need a room I can lock her into when she doesn't listen... and since thats almost all the time, I figure it should be pretty nice.)

So we should get to look at one place this week, and I for one am excited. But then it strikes me... I'm going to live with Bless! Yikes!

What if she doesn't like the way I leave my clothes on the floor? Or the way I never make the bed? Or the way I use one glass for everything but then forget it somewhere in the house only to find it days later? What if she can, or learns how to, pick locks?

Well, anyway, these are things that I'll have to worry about over the next 8 or so months. I'll keep you posted on how the house hunt goes.
